OBITUARY Charlie P Raia September 9, 1949 – December 20, 2018 Charlie Peter Raia, a resident of Gardendale, Alabama was born in Birmingham, Alabama on September 9, 1949 and passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 20, 2018 at the age of 69. Charlie was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. Fishing was his passion and he had many fishing friends and was once quoted in a newspaper article as being “Alabama’s Best Fisherman”.

He was a devoted family man and he dearly loved his family; he will be greatly missed by all who knew him. Charlie is preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Delores Raia; aunts Mary Raia and Catherine Lucille Hill; uncles Jacob Raia and Charlie Raia. Charlie is survived by his loving wife of 10 years, Gloria Allen Raia; daughters, Anita Jones (Paul) and Ginger Nash (Johnny); step-son, John Allen (Eve); step-daughter, Christina Barnett (Jake); four grandchildren, Samantha Williams (Chris), Joey Mollica, Katelyn Nash, and Jacob Barnett; one great grandson, Liam Williams; several other family members and a host of friends.

Celebration of life visitation will be held at Ridout’s Gardendale Chapel on Friday, December 21, 2018 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm with a Rosary at 5:00pm. Funeral service will be held at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton on Saturday at 1:30pm; followed by his burial in Elmwood Cemetery, Birmingham, Alabama.
