Funeral services for Cheryl M. Jensen, age 72, of Glenville, will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home. Pastor Kent Otterman will officiate. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Glenville.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Online condolences are welcome at www. bayviewfuneral.com.

Cheryl died Wednesday, January 9, 2019 at Mayo Clinic Hospital – St. Mary’s Campus in Rochester. Cheryl Marlene Jensen was born on February 21, 1946 in Albert Lea, the daughter of Clayton and Marvel (Runden) Severtson. She grew up and attended school in Albert Lea.

On February 12, 1977, Cheryl was united in marriage to Richard Douglas Jensen at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Cheryl worked for Universal in Albert Lea for 8 years. She then went to work for the Glenville School District as a custodian and boiler technician until she retired.

Cheryl was a member of Glenville First Lutheran Church and the Senior Center of Glenville. With a passion for animals of all kinds, you would often find her doctoring up an assorted array of animals from the neighborhood including cats and stray dogs the kids would drag home. Even turtles and baby birds would feel right at home.

Cheryl enjoyed watching the bird houses and nature around the yard. She was fond of sitting by her koi pond on a hot summer day. She excelled at crafts and scrapbooking and was a fan of country western music and coffee.

Cheryl was an accomplished baker and fantastic homestyle cook. She was a loving mother and wife. Cheryl enjoyed attending her children’s activities and competitions.

She will be missed by all who loved her. Cheryl is survived by her loving husband, Richard “Rick” Jensen; children, Jennifer (Dennis Tyson) Jensen, Jamie (Leanne Barker) Jensen, and Jodie (Bryan) Koller; siblings, Steven (Julie) Severtson and Randy Severtson; uncle, Kenny Severtson; grandchildren, Cole Wenzel, Kent Thostenson, and Jackie (Ernie) Quezada; close friends, Beverly Peterson and family; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and loving pets, Elsie, Digger, Bella, Presley, Winter, and Tiger Buddy. Cheryl was preceded in death by her parents, Clayton and Marvel; daughter, Jan Jensen; uncles, Carol Severtson, Val “Bud” Severtson, Dick Severtson, and Faye Severtson; aunts, Sarah Severtson, Pat Severtson, and Gina Severtson; nephew, Randy Severtson; cousins, Brian Severtson, Dan Severtson, Daniel Nielsen, and Michelle Ulve; close friend, Allie Clark; and numerous brothers and sisters-in-laws.
