Ralph J. “Chip” Damstra, Jr. passed away on May 31, 2018 at Clark Retirement Community in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Born on April 10, 1941, he was the beloved son of Ralph, Sr. and Berniece (nee Klumpp) Damstra. Chip was raised in southeast Grand Rapids.

He was a graduate of Ottawa Hills High School and Parsons College in Fairfield, IA. After working in the food service industry, he became a caregiver to his parents and enjoyed traveling throughout the world with them. Chip and his family were lifelong members and supporters of First Park Congregational Church.

Chip was preceded in death by his parents and is survived and lovingly remembered by his cousins, James Gunther (Kristie) of Arlington Heights, IL and their children Laura Bryer (Nate) of Colorado Springs, CO and Katherine Stegman (Andrew) and son, Ryan of Arlington Heights, IL, and Dee Dee Piers (Dr. James) of Holland, Michigan and their children, Dr. Christian Piers (Rachael) and daughter Kaimana Rozalyn of Chapel Hill, NC, and Carter Piers of Honolulu, HI. A private family memorial is planned.
