Peter Gerald Dykstra, age 84, of Grand Rapids passed into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Peter was born on April 17, 1934, the son of Clarence and Gertrude (Pater) Dykstra. He was united in marriage to the love of his life for 65 years, Betty (Palma) Dykstra who survives.

Also surviving are his children, Betty and Jonn Belding, Peter and Diane Dykstra, Tom and Grace Dykstra, Linda and Peter Kiemel; nine grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; his brother, Clare and Sue Dykstra and three sisters, Dorothy and Don Bratt, Carol and Larry Poulisse and Jeanie and Bruce Uekert and brother-in-law, Ted Schipper. He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Schipper, and his brother and sister-in-law, Louis and Pearl Dykstra. Peter owned C Dykstra and Sons a wholesale produce business, which he grew and managed for years.

He was a member and past president of Safari Club International of West MI. A life-long member of East Leonard Christian Reformed Church he served as an elder and Sunday School teacher and was known there as the “The Candy Man”.
