Chris L. Nettles, 70, of Ocala, Florida passed peacefully from this life into the presence of the most High God and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on September 27, 2018 at 4:38 a.m. Chris was the son of “Pete” and Myrtie (Osteen) Nettles of High Springs. Chris grew up in High Springs and graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1966 and, afterwards, graduated from college. Chris had a life long career with Florida Power, retiring as Chief of Operations in 2003.

Chris is survived by his loving wife of 17 years, Lorraine Clutter Nettles; daughter January Nettles (Carl) West and their six children: Levi, Zack, Austyn, Wyatt, Colt and Blakely West, all of Dunnellon; two step daughters, Lauren (Edward) Sloane of Ocala and Tara Clutter of Orlando. Chris was a huge Gator fan. He had such a love for sports, but most especially for the Florida Gators.

Chris was a loving, devoted and supportive husband and father. He loved his family dearly and did not want to die and leave them. He fought with all his strength to beat the battle with cancer.

But in the end he knew his last breath on Earth would usher him into the presence of his Savior and that the separation from his beloved family would only be temporary. Chris died peacefully at home surrounded by his family. Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Countryside Funeral Home.

Arrangements are under the care of Countryside Funeral Home. P.S. Chris would never forgive us if we did not say “GO GATORS!
