He was born on June 29, 1969 in Atlanta, Georgia and died way too young for any good. He is preceded in death by his mother, Jean Myers of Palacios, Texas, and special friend Kathy of Fort Myers, Florida.

He is survived by his son, Sean Joseph Cruse of Magnolia, Texas, brothers Ronald Cruse of Tishamingo, Oklahoma, Matthew Cruse and wife Kasey of Marlow, Oklahoma, sister Pamela Theism and husband Greg of West Columbia, Texas, and several nieces and nephews. He is missed on this earth by his family and friends, the best of whom were called “bro”. Chris lived his life on his own terms, smoking and fishing every time he had the chance.

He was an electrician by trade but loved the water and enjoyed living in Naples, Florida and Surfside, Texas for much of his life. However, home was Palacios, the City by the Sea where he was often employed on shrimp boats just because of his love for being out at sea. Besides raising an amazing son, Chris is remembered for his wit, his heart, his generous, fun-loving, bar room-brawling, instigating and agitating, mischievous self.

One of his more memorable accomplishments was standing in the cold water on Quintana Beach on February 14, 2004 as he scooped water over a stranded dolphin for hours that he rescued. Cupid, the dolphin would later become somewhat of a celebrity because of Chris’s selfless acts of compassion and kindness, which epitomizes the heart his family loved so much. His family would like to thank the oncology team at Naples Community Hospital, his Hospice Family, including Marie, Linda, Patty, Linda and Pastor Bob, and his caregiver Tammy.

If you were somehow touched by him and you’d like to honor his memory, donations can be made to Houston Hospice of El Campo, Texas.
