PORTLAND-Christopher Samuel DiPhillipo, 39 years old, passed away Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Maine Medical Center. Christopher was born in Portland, Maine on February 18, 1979 to Richard Wayne Murray and Ruthanne (Fournier) DiPhillipo. Chris, also known as “Flip” to his large circle of friends, was truly one of a kind.

A sweet, loving, gentle soul with incredible charisma and an outlandish sense of humor, Chris touched the lives of so many people. Chris made you feel like there was no place in the world he would rather be than right there with you, and if you were one of the people lucky enough to spend time with him, you knew what it meant to feel truly special. He seemed to have a never-ending supply of unconditional love to give, and because of that, he created lasting memories with hundreds of people.

Chris had a great appreciation for the outdoors. Camping and sailing were for him a way to enjoy time with his close friends in a beautiful, peaceful setting. Chris was a fantastic cook and managed in several of Portland’s kitchens.

One of his most memorable jobs was at the family business, Tony’s Donuts, where Chris worked alongside his late grandfather, Antonio Fournier, along with many other family members. Chris was a huge music aficionado. Chris’s love for music was as grand as his love for life and adventure.

He knew the words to (pretty much) every song in the world and would send people into fits of laughter as he sang along flawlessly to obscure hits from every decade as well as old Italian folk songs. He was an absolute savage at “freestyle rap”, improvising psychologically complex narratives involving the people in his immediate vicinity. His absolute favorite artist was Billy Joel, whom he saw live at Madison Square Garden.

More than anything else, Chris was a family man. Chris cherished his family above all else. He loved his parents deeply, and spent much of his time enjoying their company, attending darts tournaments with them and following their favorite football team -the Philadelphia Eagles.

His number one priority in life was his daughter, Gianna, whom he loved more than heaven and earth. Chris never said goodbye, without saying “I love you”. Now it is our turn Chris.

We love you. We love you so much and will miss you. Chris is survived by his daughter Gianna , his Parents Richard Murray and RuthAnne DiPhillipo, his siblings Candace Murray, Anthony DiPhillipo, Melissa Rodney and Richard Murray, along with many uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

Visiting hours will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm with a celebration of Chris’s life at 12:00 pm at A.T. Hutchins Funeral Home, 660 Brighton Ave, Portland. Burial will follow in Brooklawn Cemetery. To view Chris’s guestbook or leave the family an online condolence please visit www.
