OBITUARY Christopher Stephen Martin April 26, 1963 – August 21, 2018 Christopher Stephen Martin, 55, of Bedford, MA, passed away on August 21 after a brave struggle with Multiple System Atrophy. Born in Washington, DC, he was son to Evanne Zimmer Martin of Harwich, MA and the late George Elliott Martin of Kingston, NY. He leaves behind his beloved wife Louisa (Schlee) Martin and their son Jack Elliott Martin, age 7.

Also his brother, Eric Martin and his wife and children of West Kingston, RI, and many other family and friends. Chris grew up enjoying the outdoors of the Catskill Mountains in New York, teaching himself to catch trout and many other small creatures with his bare hands. He was valedictorian of Onteora HS and went on to earn a BS in biology from Cornell University and a PhD in molecular biology from MIT.

Professionally, he worked in biotechnology, most recently at EMD Millipore in Bedford. Chris loved the outdoors, hiking, skiing, camping, hunting, and especially fishing, which he pursued with relentless determination in any weather or time of day or year. He travelled extensively throughout the world and was an expert chef who would make gourmet meals that lasted long into the night for family and friends.

Later in life, he spent much of his time at his cabin “Sugar Mountain” in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont, with Louisa and Jack. A memorial service will be held at First Parish Church, 75 Great Road, Bedford, MA at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 29.
