Born August 24, 1939 in Union County, he was a son of the late Frank and Wilma Little Thomas. He is preceded in death by a son, Frankie Thomas, siblings, Alif Preslar and Sam Thomas.

Chum was known for his strong work ethic working for Martin Marietta Aggregates for 47 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his church family. He loved his mules and being outside working on old houses and buildings.

He was a strong believer in the word of God and sharing his personal testimony with all he met. Funeral services will be held 2 PM Wednesday at Hamilton Crossroads Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 5-7 PM at Morgan & Son Funeral Home.

Chum is survived by his wife Joan of the home; sons, Tony Thomas, David Thomas and his wife, Bobbie Jo, Randy Thomas and Nick Thomas and his wife Emily all of Marshville; sister, Catherine Carpenter and Geraldine Haigler both of Mint Hill; grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Jacob, Maggie, Will, Cayden, Jaxon and Rylan; great grandchildren, Caycee, Madison, Lily Kate, Jastyn, Jordyn and Kaisyn.
