Obituary for Cindy Schobey Cynthia Camille Runnels Schobey, 67, of Wesson, MS went home to be with the Lord on the 20th of September at Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS after a brave battle with melanoma. Cindy was born in Jackson, MS, on October 11, 1950 to Willie Gaston and Charlotte Runnels. Cindy was a graduate of Wingfield High School, Mississippi College, and William Carey University.

In her 28 years of teaching, she lovingly taught over a thousand children at various schools. Most of her career was spent at Wesson Attendance Center where her passion was teaching kindergarten. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Jackson, where she was active in the choir and enjoyed singing in Carols by Candlelight.

Her other interests included sewing and cooking with her greatest passion being spoiling her grandchildren. Cindy is survived by her children, Matthew (Ashley) Dugas and Allison Pates, her brothers, Mike (Rita) Runnels and Chris (Cathy) Runnels, and her grandchildren, Natalie Bonds, Coleman Bonds, Kelly Camille Pates, and Matilda Dugas. Her parents preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be held at Stringer Funeral Home in Hazlehurst on Saturday, September 22, 2018 with visitation from 1pm-3pm and memorial service to follow at 3pm. Memorial donations may be made in Cindy’s name to Hospice Ministries in Ridgeland, MS, or Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital in Jackson, MS. Cindy’s family would like to thank all of those who prayed, visited, and sent cards of encouragement to their mother as she battled.
