Interment will be at the Riverview Cemetery in Savage. Silha Funeral Home of Glendive has been entrusted with the arrangements. Dolly was born on January 22, 1933 to Jake and Gertrude (Howe) Anderson in Reeder, North Dakota.

She was raised and educated in Reeder where she attended Reeder High School. Following her education, Dolly was united in marriage to Vernon Carr on January 19, 1951 in Beach, North Dakota. Vernon & Dolly were married for 34 years, until his untimely death in 1985.

To this union, two children were born. The family lived in Reeder until 1958 when Vernon was transferred to the Knife River Coal Mine in Savage. Later, Vernon & Dolly were transferred to Beulah, North Dakota for a few years until Vernon’s passing.

At that time, Dolly returned to Savage where she remained until 2015. In May of 2015, Dolly moved to Glendive & resided at The Heritage until the time of her death. Dolly’s social activities were spent with her family.

She enjoyed watching her son compete in basketball and track and her daughter in cheer. Dolly was known for making some of the best divinity and homemade donuts. During her years of living in Savage, Dolly enjoyed watching her grandkids’ sporting events as they were growing up.

Many late nights were spent playing Rummikub and drinking coffee with her grandkids or lovebuggies as she lovingly called them. She would “bake” her Rice Krispie treats if she knew there were coming over. They were some of the best; made with love.

She was a regular at coffee in the mornings over at the store. You could also find her at the Senior Citizens Center, gathering with friends, enjoying conversation & a bite to eat. Later on, she could be found visiting her friends who lived at The Manor and partaking in some of their scheduled activities.

Dolly loved watching the birds in her front yard, & in the springtime she paid close attention to the number of eggs the Wrens laid in her birdhouses and thoroughly enjoyed watching the baby birds grow up until they were big enough to leave their nest. Dolly was fortunate, while living at The Heritage, to be in the company of so many special friends. And the “help” she would give the maintenance man with the beautiful flower gardens at their facility was always well taken.

She also tended to her special garden, growing tomatoes & cucumbers this past summer, with the help of her great-granddaughter, Abryn. Tuesday afternoons, which is when Bingo was scheduled, was also a very special time for the two of them. Dolly loved getting pictures of all her great-grandbabies, smooching their cheeks, and knowing that they were the cutest.

Dolly passed time by putting together her vast collection of jigsaw puzzles, playing cards, and could almost always be found watching the Molly B. Polka Show on Friday evenings, and usually critiquing the dancers. Dolly was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Vernon; son-in-law, Bill Cody; four brothers, Buzzy Anderson, Jip Anderson, Terry Anderson, and Larry Dean Anderson; and one sister, Sis Nichols. Dolly is survived by her daughter, Vonna Cody of Glendive; her son, Bryan (Anne) Carr of Big Arm, Montana; six adored grandchildren, Kim Cody of Glendive, BJ Cody of Foley, Alabama, Amber Daily of Polson, Montana, Aimee Gustafson of Polson, Montana, Cammie Evenson of Polson, and Hayley Voegele of Belgrade, Montana; eleven adored great-grandchildren; and one sister, Frances “Pet” Nichols of Lacrosse, Wisconsin; as well as many, many nieces & nephews.

All of whom will cherish our time spent with her and will miss her dearly. Memorials in Dolly’s name may be made to the First Congregational Church in Savage at:102 2nd Avenue, Savage, Montana 59262. Remembrances and condolences may be shared with the family at: www.
