Obituary of Claire E. Tully Claire Elizabeth Tully, longtime resident of Valley Cottage, NY, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019, after a long and beautiful life at the age of 91. Born on October 21, 1927, Claire was raised in the Bronx by her mother, Margaret Kraft, and stepfather, William Patrick Murphy. Her father, Frederick DeWitt, died when she was a baby.

Claire worked for American Express in Manhattan before marrying her childhood sweetheart, George William Tully in 1952. Claire and George raised six children in an idyllic Valley Cottage neighborhood filled with wonderful families and friends. They were active members of St. Paul’s Church in Congers, NY.

Claire was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and a volunteer lunch monitor at St. Paul’s School where her children attended. She enjoyed painting, quilting, crocheting, gardening, and decorating for holidays. She filled hundreds of photograph albums with photos she took of her growing family.

Claire fully embraced being a loving mother and “Nana”! She was predeceased by her husband of 28 years, George, and her daughter, Patrice. She is survived by her children: Brian (Stacy) Tully, George (Cheryl) Tully, Jim (Rosanne) Tully, Allison Tully, and Andrea (Rick Dobbelaer).

She had 11 grandchildren: John (Andrea), Chris (Nancy) & Emily; Michael (Ashley) & Kevin (Courtney); Kaylee, Shannon & Christie; Ava, Ian & Casey, and two great-grandchildren: Jack & Isabella. Claire was full of grace – making everyone she knew feel loved and special. She was a beautiful soul and positive role model.

She made even the smallest accomplishment and experience of every life she touched a celebration! She leaves behind nothing but wonderful memories. Visitation is on Thursday, March 21, 2019, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm at Joseph W. Sorce Funeral Home, 728 West Nyack, NY 10994.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Paul’s Church, 82 Lake Rd, Congers, NY 10920 on Friday, March 22nd at 10 am. Burial to immediately follow at Gethsemane Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Claire’s name to the Tolstoy Foundation Rehabilitation & Nursing Center, 100 Lake Rd, Valley Cottage, NY 10989.
