Clara B. Childers, 91, of Wintersville, died Wednesday, January 23, 2019 at her residence of natural causes. She was born May 29, 1927 in Steubenville the daughter of the late William M. and Gertrude A. Smith Kaufman. She was preceded also in death by her husband Ira Denver Childers, a daughter Janice C. Childers, a brother John Barker and six sisters Mary West, Gertrude Kendrach, Helen Losey, Margaret Willis Swearingen, Rita Swearingen Chichilo and Wilma Dear Swearingen.

Clara retired as an LPN at the former St. John’s Hospital. She later worked as a secretary at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church where she held her church membership and was active in the CWC; Director of Ministries & past President of Blessed Sacrament St. Francis Society; Lector, Eucharistic Minister and Sacristan; total Ministry Program and member of the Pots & Pans Choir. She is survived by her sons Martin “Marty Childers of Wintersville and William Denver “Denny” (Katie) Childers of Casa Grande, AZ, four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, 852 Main Street, Wintersville on Monday from 9 until Funeral Liturgy with Mass at 11 a.m. with Msgr. Kurt Kemo celebrant. Burial will follow at Mount Calvary Cemetery.

In Lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Blessed Sacrament -or- Charity Hospice. The family would like to thank Christine Mitchell, Sara Gasser and Carla Gasser for the special care and concern given to Clara by them.
