Clara May Phillips, 60, of Beaufort, passed away on Saturday, February 2, 2019 at Crystal Coast Hospice House with Shelley and Edna at her side. A memorial service celebrating Clara’s life will be held at 2:00pm on Sunday, February 10, 2019 at Core Creek United Methodist Church. Inurnment will follow at the church cemetery.

Clara enjoyed life and many pastimes. One of her favorite things to do was to lay by the pool and watch her grandson play. She loved to watch FOX News and Rush Limbaugh.

Hosting family gatherings gave her a feeling of great satisfaction and love for those around her. The greatest joy in her life was being blessed as a grandmother. Clara never knew a stranger and made friends throughout her community.

She always wanted to spread love and kindness through her restaurant and delivering food for those who had a reason to celebrate an occasion in their life. During her lifetime, she actively kept up with her Real Estate license, was honored to own her restaurant, The Watermark in Atlantic Beach and had a great sense of accomplishment that accompanied it. Later in life, she was ecstatic to be helping at another restaurant, Bella Pizza in Atlantic Beach.

She is survived by her loving daughter, Shelley Bandy; her grandson, and apple of her eye, Richard Alexander Bandy; loving sister, Edna Taylor & husband Rex Taylor; niece Jessica Taylor; nephew Lee Taylor; the Taylor family, extended family members, and extensive group of friends; and of course, her fur babies, Poppy & Luna. Clara is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Edna Phillips; brother, Jack Lee Phillips; and significant other, John P. Morgan. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make memorial donations in her honor to the Crystal Coast Hospice House at PO Box 640, Newport, NC 28570.
