WILLIAMS CLAYTON On Wednesday, January 23, 2019, Clayton Williams went home to be with the Lord. He was born on October 26, 1926 in Newton Grove, North Carolina. At the age of 18, he enlisted in the Army and served during the Korean War and when it ended, he settled in Ben Avon after working in the Steel Mills.

He eventually married the former Eva Mae Rush, and together they raised their four children, Vangie, Nathaniel, Cathy and Mark. Clayton left the Steel Mills to begin his own business in Commercial Hauling. For over 30 years, he was a familiar figure driving throughout the North Hills and greater Pittsburgh area as he contracted with strip malls, department stores and small shops within the Bellevue community.

Clayton became a member of the Mt. Zion Baptist Church shortly after arriving in Pittsburgh. He served for many years as an Usher and on the Board of Trustees.

For years he headed the Annual Men’s Easter morning breakfast and served on Usher boards within the Baptist church community. During his senior years when his health began to fail, he joined Life Pittsburgh, a Senior Community. Over the next 13 years and until his death, he was both popular and beloved by the many dedicated staff and professional employees who provided him care.

He is survived by Eva Williams, Cathy Williams, Mark (Regina) Williams, Vangie (Bill) Dorsey, Nate Williams; four grandchildren, Billy, Joshua, Mark II and Vivian; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends within the Life Pittsburgh family.
