Cleo Marie Armstrong, 85 years young, was born on October 19, 1932, in White Earth, MN, and began her journey to the spirit world on June 13, 2018, at her home in Cass Lake, MN, with her family by her side. Cleo enjoyed going to the casino, playing bingo, beading, making wreaths and garland, and most of all spending time with her family. For may years she went on the pow wow trail with “Cleo’s Lunchwagon” and in her younger years she drove Powder Puff at the Bemidji Speedway.

She received her practical Nursing Degree on May 27, 1982, from Northwest Technical College. She loved her job as a nurse until a stroke made her retire from the Indian Health Service. On January 4, 1953, she was united in marriage to Maynard Swan and was later divorced.

July 12, 1969, she married Delmar Jones, Sr., in Cass Lake, MN. Cleo is survived by her children, Patricia (Warren) Storm of Maple Park, IL; Vicki and Beverly Swan of Cass Lake, MN; and Michael Swan of Pine Point, MN; stepchildren, Delmar (Doris) Jones, Jr., of Bemidji, MN; Joseph Jones of Cas Lake, MN; William (Jolene) Jones of Minneapolis, MN; and Julie (Terry) Jones of Cass Lak, MN; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and sisters, Edith Smith of Cass Lake, MN; Diane Goodman of Cass Lake, MN; and Mary Clark of Bemidji, MN; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Cleo joins her parents, Thomas Armstrong and Louise Johnson; children, Donald Armstrong, Sr., and Doreen Seelye; sisters, Evelyn Thompson and Bernice Buckanaga; and brother, Bernie Buckanaga.

Overnight wake for Cleo will begin at 4:00 pm on Sunday, June 17, 2018, at the White Earth Community Center in Cass Lake, MN, with the funeral service being at 11:00 am Monday, June 18, 2018. Father George Ross will officiate. Pall bearers for Cleo will be Randy Tyge, Donald Armstrong, Jr., Jeremy Swan, Sr., Justin Seelye, Milton Budreau III, and Jason Swan.
