Funeral service for Clifford E. Putnam, age 76, of Decatur, will be Sunday, September 9, 2018, 3:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Earl Holt officiating. The family will receive friends for two hours prior to service.

Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Mr. Putnam, who died Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born September 22, 1941, in Lawrence County, to Robert Elzie Putnam and Dorothy Hill Putnam. He owned and operated a freight transport business and retired from the National Guard following 22 years of service.

He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Self Putnam of Decatur; four sons, Richard C. Howard (Gina), Michael S. Howard, Chris Putnam (Angela), and Jason H. Putnam, all of Decatur; one brother, James Putnam of Cameron, NC; three sisters, Marie Panella of Huntsville, Doris Montgomery of Decatur, and Barbara Brown of Decatur; six grandchildren, Ashley Smith (Roger), Madison Putnam, Baylee Falloway, Mary-Katherine Falloway, Alyssa Putnam, and Taylor Howard (Alexandra); three great-grandchildren, Hattie Rae Smith, Annie James Smith, and Carter Howard. Pallbearers will be family and friends.
