Obituary for Clovis “Corkey” Anderson (Camdenton) Clovis Eugene “Corkey” Anderson age 77 of Camdenton, MO passed away Friday October 12, 2018 at Cox Medical Center, Springfield, MO. Corkey was born March 16, 1941 in Iowa City, Iowa, to Eugene and Francis Anderson. He grew up in the lake area and spent a few years in Washington before returning to Missouri.

Corkey joined the Navy in April 1959 and proudly served his country as a 3rd Class Petty Officer until April 1963. During this time he met Janice the love of his life at Pat’s Café in Camdenton where she was waitressing. They were married August 26, 1961 near Macks Creek and shared 55 years of marriage.

Corkey was a loving and devoted husband and took exceptional care of Janice until the time of her death in January 2017. Corkey was saved as a young man. According to his testimony, he was driving near Eugene Mo, listening to “Turn your Radio On”.

As he topped the hill and hit the “swag” in the road the “good Lord” saved his soul. He joined Parrack Grove Missionary Baptist Church on November 24, 1974 where he remained a faithful member until the time of his death. He always asked prayers for loved ones that they too would know Lord as he did.

Corkey worked several years at Dowden’s Interiors. He then worked and retired from O’Reilly Automotive after 28 years where he made many friends. He enjoyed helping customers and working with the community.

Fishing, traveling, and riding motorcycles were a few of his hobbies. Also in the past few years he enjoyed researching and studying family genealogy. Corkey always had a smile and a kind word for friends and family alike.

Corkey was survived by his brothers Larry and wife Gayla Anderson, Dennis and wife Dorothy Anderson, sister Kathy Frye all of Buffalo,MO. sister Grace and husband Randy Vanausdall of Alma, Illinois, brother in-law Carl Coffey of Macks Creek, Mo sister in-law Shirley Hooper of Warrensburg, Mo and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents Eugene and Francis Anderson, his sister Priscilla “Pat” Anderson Vance and nephew Timothy Sousley.
