Obituary for Irvin W Griffin (Lebanon) Irvin Warren Griffin, son of Irvin R. and Flossie Ford Griffin, was born March 31, 1936, near Russ, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, October 3, 2018, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-two years, six months, and three days. On December 10, 1955, he was united in marriage to Dottie Jean Johnson, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dottie, on October 9, 2003; a grandson, Scotty Wayne Wells; two great-granddaughters, Ashley Griffin and Dericka Davis; one great-grandson, Blackley Davis; and three brothers, Jerry, Gerald, and Faye Griffin. Irvin is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Pamela and Clifford Wells, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Judy Griffin, Randy and Donna Griffin, and Dean and Pamela Davis, all of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren, James and Wendy Davis, of Lebanon, Missouri, Brad and Christina Davis, of Iberia, Missouri, Derick and Aleica Davis, of Falcon, Missouri, Jean Ann and Shawn Rushing, of Lebanon, Missouri, Joni and Danny Gibbs, of Camdenton, Missouri, Kelsey and Chuck Jones, Brandon and Mariah Griffin, and Landon Griffin, all of Lebanon, Missouri; several step-grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Griffin, of Russ, Missouri; a sister, Lula Jones Hawk, of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, and cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Russ community and graduated from Lebanon High School.
After he and Dottie were married, they made their home near Lebanon and lovingly raised their children. Irvin was employed by the Independent Stave Company, now Missouri Cooperage, for forty-two years, and then worked for Bass Tracker for ten years. He always stayed busy, liked working on things and could fix anything.
He enjoyed building, was very particular about his work, and had built five houses. He also enjoyed going to yard sales. He possessed a good sense of humor and never met a stranger.
His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Irvin was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his eighty-two years.
