Obituary for Mitchel L Burris (Lebanon) Mitchel Lee Burris, son of Calvin L. and Edna Irene Hightower Burris, was born August 15, 1934, near Hartville, Missouri. He departed this life Monday, October 8, 2018, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-four years, one month, and twenty-three days. On June 9, 1955, he was united in marriage to Chlorene “Rene” Stigall, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
He was preceded in by his parents; and two brothers, Jerry and Ansel Burris. Mitchel is survived by his loving wife of sixty-two years, Rene, of the home; a daughter, Sherry Johnson, and her husband, Keith, of Lebanon, Missouri; two sons, Donald L. Burris, and his wife, Penny, of Camdenton, Missouri, and Gene Burris, and his wife, Patty, of Lebanon, Missouri; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren, and one due in November; a brother, Paul Burris, and his wife, Glenda, of Grovespring, Missouri; two sisters, Pricilla Carriger, and Frances Ballie, both of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was raised in the Hartville and Grovespring area.
After he and Rene were married, they made their home near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their children. Mitchel was employed by Justice Furniture Company in Lebanon for forty years. Mitchel had made his profession of faith in Christ and was a longtime member of Elk Creek Baptist Church, near Hartville.
He had recently attended the Cowboy Church in Lebanon. He raised and showed Fox Trotter Horses for most of his adult life. He loved horses and enjoyed competing in horse shows.
He enjoyed visiting and talking with people and especially enjoyed his family and friends. Mitchel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
