Clyde R. Beard, 87, a native of Central, died Wednesday, July 18, 2018, at Lincoln Hills Healthcare Center in New Albany, Indiana. He was born June 19, 1931, in Central, to the late Roscoe and Octavia Kerns Beard. He was retired from PSI/Duke Energy in New Albany, was a farmer, was a member of Graceland Baptist Church in New Albany, and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Betty Brunner and Ruth Lawton. Survivors include his wife, Joyce C. Sutherland Beard; his daughter, Lisa Kaye Ellis (Scot) of Floyds Knobs, Indiana; and his grandchildren, Ben and Lydia Ellis. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 22, 2018, at Beanblossom-Cesar Funeral Home in Corydon.

Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Corydon. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. Saturday and after 11:00 a.m. Sunday at the funeral home. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.

Pallbearers will be Ben and Scot Ellis, Robert Love, Richard Logsdon, Jeff Brunner and Alvin Sutherland.
