Obituary for Coleman “Gunner” W. Bennett Coleman “Gunner” W. Bennett, age 82, of Flat Rock, passed away on Monday, May 21, 2018 at Beaumont Hospital in Trenton, Michigan. Born on July 27, 1935 in Flat Rock, Michigan, he was the son of Coleman and Arline (Staumbaugh) Bennett. He was employed with DT&I as a Carman for 14 years then with Chrysler as a Millwright for 24 years until retiring in 1991.

Coleman was a graduate of Flat Rock High School Class of 1953. He played Varsity Football in school and went on to play Semi-Pro Football for one year with the Pontiac Arrows. He played fast pitch softball, bowled, danced and built model cars, trains and planes.

He loved to hang out with his grandchildren and was their shopping buddy. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his ex-wife Mary Lou Deroest Bennett, daughter, Susan (Ray) Sargent of Wyandotte; sons, Jerry Bennett of Romulus and Michael Bennett of Colorado Springs, CO; sister, Dawn Gruenwald of TX; grandchildren, Crystal (Greg) Bennett, Michelle (Shane) Pappas, Jerry (Kristie) Bennett, Jr., Michael Bennett, Jr., Stefan Bennett, Anna Milewski, Harley Sargent and Donald Sargent; great-grandchildren, Conner Pappas, Jerry Bennett, III and Owen Bennett.

Friends may visit in the Arthur Bobcean Funeral Home, Flat Rock Chapel on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm. Funeral Services will be held at the Funeral Home on Saturday, May 26, 2018 at 11:00 am. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Flat Rock, Michigan.
