Colleen Gloria Brown Petersen, 88, passed away Monday, July 2, 2018 at her home in Wellsville, Utah. She was born September 7, 1929 in Logan, Utah to Evan Clyde and Carmen Elizabeth Bench Brown. She loved the ranch in Avon and talked often of the childhood memories made there.

After graduating from South Cache High she married Harris Devon Petersen on May 5, 1947. They resided most of their lives in Hyrum where they raised their seven children. After all their children left home to make their own way in life, they moved to Whitney, Idaho.

When Don passed away, Colleen’s health was not the best so she moved to Wellsville to spend her last seven years with her daughter Cleone. Colleen worked and retired from Schreiber’s in Logan where she met many life-long friends. She and Don also loved working with and raising cattle.

Colleen found great joy in watching the little calves in the spring. Many times when one was having trouble getting started she would do what was needed to help it along. Even bringing one in the house and warming it up in the bath tub.

She loved to watch the calves play together. It made her laugh when they would run and jump around the field. She loved her little dog Cindy who was always there for a bit of lap sitting.

Colleen had beat cancer twice in her life. She was tough and even though the treatments took a toll, she would not give up. She wanted to be here to see every grandchild and then every great grandchild raise to be adults.

She loved to hear stories about each one of them and how they were doing. She said “In the end they are all you have, these beautiful children”. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

How she loved her savior. She was able to attend the temple, which was a highlight of her life, where she was able to be sealed to her parents, husband and several of her children for time and all eternity. It was a glorious day!

She is survived by her children Mickie (Shayne) Mathews, of Mendon, UT; Kirk (Marsha) Petersen, of Paradise, UT; Randy (Leisa) Petersen, of Downey, ID; Pam Biggs, of Star Valley, WY; Kevin (Tonya) Petersen, of Lewiston, Kris (Becky) Petersen, of Lewiston, UT; and Cleone (Lyle) Gittins, of Wellsville, UT; 22 grandchildren, and 62 great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Carol (Wendal) Johnson, of Logan, UT; brother Jack (Trudy) Brown, of Hyrum, UT; sisters-in-law Theone Larsen, of Hyrum, Sonia Hendry, of West Haven, and Linda Brown, of North Logan. She was preceded in death by her husband Don, her parents, and brothers Evan Leroy Brown, and Jerry Clyde Brown, a sister-in-law Elizabeth Brown, and a great grandchild Savanna Kaye Petersen.

We love you mom a bushel and a peck and a hug around your neck! Until we meet again. Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 9, 2018 in the Wellsville Stake Center, 30 South Center in Wellsville, Utah.

A viewing will be held on Monday from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the stake center. Interment will be in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.
