Mrs. Doley Colleen Bennett, 80, passed away Wednesday morning (March 6, 2019) at her residence in Millwood. A native of Millwood, Colleen was born on November 15, 1938 to the late Williford Leon Bennett and Inez Sweat Bennett. She married Ferrell Elias Bennett in 1958, and they returned to Ware County in 1975 after he retired from the United States Air Force.

Once in Waycross, she began working at Satilla Regional Medical Center as Director of Volunteer Services and retired after 30 years. Colleen was instrumental in awarding Nursing scholarships through the auxillary program. She started the medical alert Life Line program and the Tree lighting ceremony to benefit Hospice House Satilla.

Colleen was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by two sisters, Willifay Bennett Witt and Cleo Juanell Bennett Johns; and one brother, Williford Autry Bennett. Survivors include include her husband of 60 years, Ferrell Elias Bennett; two daughters, Janet Marie Bennett, and Ellen Bennett Pittman (Cecil); two grandsons, Eric Dewayne Pittman (Brooke) and Justin Derick Pittman (Chelsea); three great grandchildren, Layla Elizabeth Pittman, Aiden Dewayne Pittman and Marshall Bear Pittman; three sisters, Winnifred Slatten (Richard) of McMinnville, TN, Vivian Bennett of Brunswick, and Beverly Spikes (late Carlie) of Nicholls; two brothers, Roger Bennett (Janice) of Millwood and Calvin Bennett (Doris) of Waycross; and numerous nieces, nephews and a large extended family.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday (March 8, 2019) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will follow in Little Utah Cemetery in Axson. The family will receive friends 6 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Music Funeral Home.
