Obituary for Collin O. Deppe Collin 0. “Cullie” Deppe, age 88, went to meet his Lord and Savior and is reunited with his beautiful wife, Helen, on Saturday Evening, November 3rd, with his family at his side. Collin was born June 1st, 1930, to Otto and Amanda (Borchardt) Deppe.
He attended grade school at Caster’s Corners one-room School and later in Auroraville through the Eighth Grade. He was a proud dairy farmer and lived on the family farm for over 40 years. He met the love of his life, Helen Stevenson, first through 4-H and thrashing at the neighbor’s farm.
Collin asked her to go to a movie while attending a Square Dance and they were engaged on New Year’s Eve. Collin and Helen (“That cute dark-haired girl”) were married at the United Methodist Church in Berlin, on June 11, 1955. They shared a fun, love-filled 61 years of marriage dancing to polkas where he could turn his partner on a dime and not miss a step.
Collin was drafted into the Army in 1953 and honorably discharged in January 1955. He loved the game of Baseball and played in the Army and later in Auroraville Sandlots league where he played the Catcher position. He was scouted by the Minor Leagues and claims his baseball mitt “Old Faithful” never missed.
He was also a true Chicago Cubs fan and happily watched them win the World Series in 2016. Collin was a devoted member of First Lutheran Church, Poy Sippi where he served in several capacities including Usher, Church Council Member and President. He served as The Town of Leon Chairman, was a Waushara County Board Member, Farm Bureau Member, Waushara and Green Lake County DHIA member and Appleton Chapter Chairman.
He also loved to bowl with the Dahlke-Frasier and Hoffman Brothers bowling team. He had an amazing sense of humor and loved to tease and joke with everyone and anyone. He was adored and will be deeply missed by his family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and friends.
He is survived by 4 children, 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren: Son William (Sharon) Deppe and their children Amanda & Christopher Dalton, great-granddaughter Colbie, Jonathan & Jesy Deppe, great grandson Keelan, and Ryan & Natalie Deppe; Daughter Patti (Gary) Batenhorst and their children Casey & Lynsey Batenhorst; great grandchildren Cooper and Charlotte, Keith Batenhorst and Krista Batenhorst; Twin daughter Colleen (Mark) Lunow and their children Hailey Lunow and Jacob Lunow; Twin son Curtis Deppe (Tina Hansen) and his twin daughters Emily and Samantha Deppe; Sisters-in-law Elaine Helmrick and Marilyn Deppe; Brother-in-law Alfred Farr, along with many nieces and nephews, incredible neighbors, WoodPecker Club Members and friends.
