Colonel Eddie’s Obituary Eddie (Ricky) Hicks was born on March 16, 1951 to Dorothy Hicks and the late James Johnson from Miami Florida. Ricky or Fish as he was affectionally called by many family and friends, attended Northwestern High School of Miami Dade County, home of the Bulls. He graduated and went into the United States Army with a classroom friend Robby headed to Vietnam.

While there he earned numerous awards for being a sharpshooter and sniper. Upon his return he was employed by the Dade County Sheriff’s Office where he worked in corrections and then on to Courtroom Security. He married Janet Benjamin from that relationship one daughter was born JeBoriah Hicks.

Ricky then moved to Pahokee Florida where he was employed by the State of Florida Corrections and moved up through the ranks becoming the Colonel of Glades Correctional Institution. He married Shirley Smith from Pahokee Fl. during that 27 year of marriage two sons were born Daelynn and Terrence Hicks.

On February 18, 2019, Ricky peacefully answered God’s call and went from labor to rest. He was an only child but was proceeded in death by one Parent. He left to cherish his memories his Mother Dorothy Hicks, Two sons Daelynn and Terrence, One step-son James Jackson, Sisters-in-law: Mattie Crawford, Margaret Ransom and Rev.

Patricia Wallace, Grandchildren: Amaya & Dakota Hicks, Arianna Hicks, Wynter, Ryan and Tyler Jackson. Cousins: Debra, Arlene and Charlene, Lashone, Candy (Vicky & Dwight-Deceased) and a host of family and friends.
