Conda Ann Weight Sorensen , March 10, 1937 — January 26, 2019

Conda Sorensen Weight, 81, of Springville, Utah, passed away, January 26, 2019, at her daughter’s home in Riverton, Utah. Conda was born March 10, 1937, in Springville, Utah, to the late Leslie LaMar Weight and Esther Laney. She was the 2nd of nine children.

Conda graduated from Springville High School in 1955 and received a bachelor’s degree in Clothing and Textiles from Brigham Young University in 1967. She married the late Severin Lund Sorensen Jr. on March 5, 1971, in the Salt Lake Temple, and they made Springville their home. Conda was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep and abiding testimony of the gospel.

She had faith in and a great love for her Savior, Jesus Christ. She was very proud to have served a mission to the North Island of New Zealand from 1960-1962. Conda suffered from Alzheimer’s disease, yet the memories of serving a mission remained strong with her until the final stages of the disease.

While Alzheimer’s stole many of Conda’s other memories, it did not steal her cheerful outlook on life. Conda’s greatest desire in life was to be a wife and mother. She loved spending time with her children and family.

Many of her favorite activities were to enrich their lives. She loved baking bread, canning, and sewing; all to bless her family with the fruits of her labor. In her free time she was an avid reader and helped instill a love of reading in her children.

Conda was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lund, by her parents, LaMar and Esther, her brother, Leslie and her sister Janice Holt. Conda is survived by her three children: Steven, Kynda (Tom) Farrell and Debra Western. She is also survived by ten grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Her funeral service will be held on February 2nd at 11 AM at the Springville 9th Ward Chapel, 878 West Center Street, Springville, Utah. A viewing will be held on February 1st from 6 to 8 PM at Wheeler Mortuary, 211 East 200 South in Springville or at the Church one hour prior to the services. Burial will be in the Springville Evergreen Cemetery.

Conda often said that the best place to be was the inside of a hug, so in lieu of flowers, the family invites you to give someone you know a hug and express your love for them.
