Cora Lee Buncom-Caves, 96, of South Haven, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, May 2, 2018. She was a loving daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She was born September 27, 1921 to Jessie and Thomas Buncom in Shreveport, Louisiana.

Cora confessed her faith in Christ at the early age of nine at the Morning Star Baptist Church in Shreveport. She completed her education at Motown Elementary and High School in Shreveport where she worked as a domestic for many years before moving to Chicago in 1943. She gained employment in 1944 at R.R. Donnelley & Sons from where she retired in 1981.

She also volunteered for Chicago Youth Center and Lincoln Elementary in South Haven as a foster grandparent helper. Cora also worked as a washroom attendant at Riva Restaurant three nights a week. She joined the Carter Temple CME Church family on March 1, 2009.

Mrs. Cora Buncom-Caves is survived by her son – Larry (Gloria) Webb, Sr., grandsons – Larry (Daphne) Webb, Jr., Demetris (Lorinda) Collins, granddaughters – Rhonda and Porsha Webb, nieces – Patsy Sanders, Gladys Walker, Mable L. Johnson, nephew – Joe Price, and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, great nieces, goddaughter – Cheryl Lynn and numerous family and friends. Visitation will be held from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at the Filbrandt Family Funeral Home in South Haven. Memorial services will follow the visitation at 1:00 PM with Pastor Bobbie Walker officiating.
