Obituary for Cora Lee Marwitz Cora Lee Babbitt Marwitz, 78, went to be with her Lord and Savior on September 19, 2018 with her daughters by her side gently holding her hands. Cora Lee was born November 10, 1933 in Hamilton, Texas to Jimmy and Emmie Babbitt. She married her one and only love Leo Marwitz on July 3, 1957.

In the early years of their marriage they moved to many different locations throughout Texas. In 1966, they settled in Arlington with their two daughters, Dana and Cindy, making this their family home for more than 50 years. Cora Lee loved being a devoted wife, nurturing mother, and grandmother to Colton and Jordan Thompson, and numerous Gauvey grand dogs.

She was a detailed homemaker and a true friend to many. She will be greatly missed by all. She enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking and teaching her skills to her daughters at a very early age.

She was a creative painter and floral designer where she used her artistry working briefly for a local florist. Cora Lee always wore a smile and was known for her ability to carry on engaging conversations with her family, friends, and even perfect strangers she would often meet. She, accompanied by her loving husband, Leo, taught their daughters to appreciate and cherish people and possessions no matter their value.

She taught them grace, values, and kindness. She would always say “Do unto others as you would have them do unto you”. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jim and Emmie Babbitt; loving husband, Leo Marwitz; brothers, William, J.H. and Clifford Babbitt; and sister, Lora Mae Martin.

In addition to her two daughters, Cora Lee is survived by her sisters, Imogene Pope and Dorothy Livingston; numerous nieces and nephews; and other extended family and friends. The Marwitz family will be greeting friends and family immediately following the Memorial Service until 5:00p.m. at Arlington Chapel. If desired, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Research Foundation.
