Coral Ann (Goode) Magnus, 82, of Cedar Vale, KS passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, KS. Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, May 18 at the Cedar Vale First Baptist Church. Graveside services will follow at the Cedar Vale Cemetery.

Visitation will be held Friday, May 17th from 1-4 P.M. at the Shelley Family Funeral Home of Arkansas City and then from 5-7 P.M. at The Long Shed in Cedar Vale, with the family present. Memorials in Coral Ann’s name may be made out to the Wauneta United Methodist Church or to the National Breast Cancer Foundation, contributions may be left in care of the funeral home. Coral Ann (Goode) Magnus was born to Cecil and Ruth (Dryden) Goode on August 19, 1936 in Wauneta, KS.

She was united in marriage to Gerald David Magnus on Oct. 9, 1955 in Cedar Vale, KS. She lived a full and happy life.

It is with a sincere heart that we say she will be greatly missed in death as she was loved in life. Coral Ann and Gerald made their home and raised their children in Cedar Vale. Coral Ann was employed by: the Cedar Vale Sale Barn, the FDIC, and the Cedar Vale State Bank.

She and Gerald owned Short’s Supermarket and after his passing she worked as a clerk for the City of Cedar Vale. Until her passing Coral Ann was a longtime member of the Wauneta United Methodist Church. She was an active member of the Rebekah’s Lodge, Order of the Eastern Star, Cedar Vale Chamber of Commerce, Caney Valley Electric Board, and the Friendship Meals Board.

She had been a community leader with the Cedar Vale Go-Getter 4-H Club and the Chautauqua County Extension Board, she also served for several years on the Cedar Vale School Board. Coral Ann was a very active Mary Kay consultant until her passing. She was an amazing cook, and she was well known as a great pie baker.

Coral Ann left behind a family who will remember her with love in their hearts and smiles on their faces. At the time of her passing, she is survived by her sister Eva Bever and husband Wendell of Sedan, KS; brother Don Goode of Wauneta, KS; son Wade Magnus and his wife, Tresia, of Arkansas City; her daughters: Connie Kirchner and husband Mike of Cedar Vale, and Cathy Walker and husband Scott of Derby. She had 11 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents and one infant grandson.
