Corlene M. Crane, 85, of Chariton, passed away January 20, 2019 at the Legacy Lodge in Chariton. Services will be Saturday, January 26, 2019 (Charles and Corlene’s 67th wedding anniversary) at 11:00 a.m. at the Truth Assembly of God Church in Chariton. Family will receive friends one hour prior to the service, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. Memorials may be made to the Truth Assembly of God Church.

Pierschbacher Funeral Home in Chariton is helping with the arrangements. Corlene M. Smith was born August 16, 1933 to Kuhne and Sena Smith in Parkersburg, Iowa. She was one of four children born to the couple.

When she was thirteen years old, Corlene met a boy named Charles Crane while roller skating. They dated on and off throughout high school, and married on January 26, 1952 in Cedar Falls, Iowa. The couple was blessed with four children: Mitch, Connie, Cathy, and Matt.

Corlene was always very family oriented. She was a proud mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was a loving, kind, giving, and sweet person.

She was also a lot of fun! Corlene loved life. She lived life to the fullest; camping, swimming, hiking and playing games with her family.

She enjoyed bowling and was awarded several bowling trophies throughout the years. Corlene always enjoyed a good yard sale. After Corlene and Charles retired, they started a business building and selling bird houses in Texas.

They enjoyed working together. Above all else, Corlene enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by many.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Charles M. Crane who passed in 2010; and siblings: Frances Murphy, John Smith, and Annabell Magee. Corlene will be greatly missed by her children: Mitch (Tamara) Crane, Connie (Richard) Hixenbaugh, Cathy (Ray) Letze, and Matt (Jenell) Crane; 9 grandchildren: Brett, Joseph, Corie, Casey, Destiny, Wyatt, Christy, Michael, and Matthew; 14 great grandchildren; and brother, David (Paulette) Zeiner; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
