Corrine Louise Hilliard, 60, of Bemidji, MN, passed away Sunday, December 30, 2018 at Havenwood Care Center, ending a courageous two-year battle with Stage IV pancreatic cancer. Corrine was born in Bemidji November 13, 1958 to Lester and Lois (Quisberg) Bowe. She grew up on a farm near Kelliher, MN with 5 siblings.

In 1976, she graduated from Kelliher High School, subsequently attending Bemidji State University and Northland Community College. In 1987, she married Richard Hilliard and the couple eventually made their home northwest of Bemidji. Corrine was a kind, caring, unassuming woman who always found the good in others and who was fiercely protective of those most dear to her.

She appreciated simple pleasures, delighting in daily walks near her home, picking wild blueberries in summer and morel mushrooms every spring, and eating fresh produce from her garden. She liked watching songbirds and woodpeckers eat at her feeders, seeing fox, rabbits and deer frolic in her yard, and graceful swans float on a nearby pond. Her sons gave her a camera, which she treasured, using it frequently to capture the beauty she found in nature.

She also enjoyed garage sales, always searching for small gifts for others and rarely for herself. Most of all, Corrine loved being a wife, mother and grandmother and cherished time spent with her family. She was a devoted member of Trinity Free Lutheran of Pony Lake, a small country church very close to her home.

Her faith did not falter despite life’s challenges and provided her with comfort and incredible strength. Survivors include her husband, Richard; sons, Nathan (Kime) Bowe, Bobby Hilliard, Randy (Harley) Hilliard; grandchildren, Asher, Vienna, Alec, Sofia, and Madeline; mother, Lois Bowe; brothers, Michael (Dawn) Bowe, Tony (Lori) Bowe; sisters, Judy Bowe, Caroline (Allen) Houchin, Sheila (Vern) Bredeson; beloved nieces and nephews; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, as well as a number of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation for friends and family will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Calvary Lutheran Church in Bemidji (2508 Washington Ave SE) followed by a 3:00 funeral service. Pastor Bill Goodman will officiate. Corrine will be laid to rest in Pony Lake Cemetery in the spring.
