Obituary for Curtis Mooney Curtis Ray Mooney went to be with the Lord on November 12th 2018 at 61 years old. He was born on June 10, 1957 in Evansville, Indiana, and grew up in Sonora, Texas where he graduated from Sonora High School in 1975. He was preceded in death by his loving father Robert P. (Bob) Mooney.

Curtis is survived by his two beautiful daughters Kinsey Mooney of Eastland, Texas and Courtney Pitts, her husband Daniel Pitts, one extraordinary grandson, Joseph Braden Pitts of San Angelo, Texas, his one-of-a-kind mother, Agnes Mooney, his wild bunch of sisters, Pat Hann, Theresa Beene, Nancy North, LaDonna Alaman, Mickey Schaefer, their husbands and many nephews and nieces. Curtis will be remembered for many of his qualities, but most notably his generosity, charm, loving spirit, and strength. It is no understatement that Curtis was always known for his luscious hair, especially before his passing because he was growing it out to donate to Locks of Love.

Curtis was a hard worker, and leaves behind many fond colleagues and customers from Simmons Huggins and Decoty Coffee Company. In his most recent job delivering medications for Best Value Country Day Pharmacy in Fort Worth, Texas, he was most remembered for the joy he spread and the care of his customers; bringing donuts (never eating them) to retirement communities, his coworkers, and loved ones. His daughters describe him as incredibly empathetic and will miss the way he always knew what they needed and the calm loving embrace of his hugs.

They will always cherish how he taught them to cook and the way they all worked as a team in the kitchen. There is no doubt in his family’s mind that anyone who met him knows of his infectious smile and laughter. Curtis passed away just short of his 5th year of sobriety, an achievement only possible by the power of Jesus Christ and unconditional love.

It was one of the most significant and profound accomplishments in life. He leaves a legacy of continually encouraging others to stand firm against struggles and to be a blessing to others.
