Obituary for Curtis Wayne “Moose” Koester Curtis Wayne “Moose” Koester, passed away peacefully at Harlingen Medical Center on December 8, 2018 at the age of 66. Curtis was born on July 15, 1952 to Dorothy and A.O. “Mickey” Koester and spent his entire life living in San Perlita, Texas. He is survived by his loving wife Virginia, of 43 years, daughter Kelly Gipper and granddaughter, Khloe.

He is also survived by his sister Carolyn (Tommy) Joyner from Dripping Springs, two brothers-in-law Gordon (Cathy) Sims from Kingsville and Terry (Candy) Sims from Los Fresnos. He is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Dorothy and Frank Sims from Raymondville. Farming has deep roots in the Koester family and Curtis knew early on it, it was his life’s plan.

He answered “Farmer” when asked by his first-grade teacher what he wanted to do when he grew up and he spent his entire life working on the farm. He and Virginia owned and operated C&V Farms for over 40 years. His love for the outdoors included hunting, fishing and riding motorcycles all over the state.

Curtis served his community as a constable for nearly 20 years, was a board member of Valley Co-op Oil Mill, Texas Boll Weevil Eradication and Willacy County Farm Bureau. He served as a director for San Perlita Co-op and later the Willacy Co-op. He was a Willacy County Farmer for many years and was awarded the State Young Farmer Award.

One of his favorite community services was being a Little League coach for several years. Visitation with the family will be at Duddlesten’s Funeral Home in Raymondville, starting at 6PM on Tuesday, December 11, 2018. A graveside service will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at Raymondville Memorial Cemetery, eat of Raymondville off Hwy 186, officiated by Pastor Steve Morfitt.

Services will be handled by Duddlesten’s Funeral Home in Raymondville. Serving as pallbearers are Buck Braswell, Chris Cernosek, Rodney Champagne, Billy Wayne Darling, Adam Fike, Dennis Hoot, Steve Lemmons, Bill Lowe, JT Mayo, Josh Schernik, John Ted Stokes and Garry White. Honorary pallbearers are JJ Gutierrez, Frank Mesa and Luis Reyes who worked for Curtis and Virginia for many years.
