Cynthia Sebrell Raines December 28, 1947 – January 26, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers View/Sign Guest Book| Send Sympathy Card Spartanburg, SC- Cynthia Sebrell Raines, 71, wife of Walden Keith Raines, passed away on Saturday, January 26, 2019. Born in Wadsworth, Ohio on December 28, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Alice Bell and Ralph Lewis Sebrell, Sr. Cynthia lived most of her life in South Carolina, and received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree from the University of South Carolina. She was an educator for over 42 years.

Cynthia was an active member of Joy Lutheran Church and was devoted to many charities, including SPHIN and the Carpenter’s Table. In her spare time, she enjoyed volunteering at Pelham Medical Center. In addition to her husband, she leaves behind her daughters, Jennifer Ratteree Olson (Allen) and Hannah Marie Raines Rice (Dalen); her sons, Jeremy Banks “J.B.” Ratteree (Janice), Brendan Stouffer Heaney (Rachel), Walden Matthew Raines (Melinda), and Walter Andrew Raines (Beth); grandsons, Banks Ashton Berry, Parker Wayne Olson, John Banks Ratteree, III, Matthew William Ratteree, and Jude Alden Raines; a brother, Ralph Lewis Sebrell, Jr. (Ann); and a sister, Sandra Sebrell Bailey (Bruce).

The family will receive friends Friday, February 1st, 1-2PM at Joy Lutheran Church. A memorial service will immediately follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Joy Lutheran Church, Helping Hands Fund, 3980 Moore Duncan Highway, Moore, SC 29369.
