Dale Johnson McKee July 19, 1922 – February 04, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| View Guestbook Entries| Send Sympathy Card Dale Johnson McKee Greenwood- Sarah Dale Johnson McKee died Monday, February 4, 2019, at Indywood Glen Personal Care assisted living facility in Greenwood, Miss. , after a short illness. She was 96 years old.

A native of Verona, Miss. , Mrs. McKee had lived in Greenwood since 2006. Born July 19, 1922, to Victor Oran Johnson and Dollie Filgo Johnson, Mrs. McKee attended elementary school in Verona and high school in Tupelo, Miss.

She attended Mississippi State College for Women, graduating with a degree in elementary education in 1942. Mrs. McKee began her lifelong career as a school teacher in Crenshaw, Miss. , where she taught third grade.

She later taught fifth grade in Tupelo, in Nashville, Tenn. , in Clarksville, Tenn. , and in the Fort Campbell, Ky.

, school system, where her husband, Dr. Clinton O. McKee, was superintendent of schools. She was especially proud of her own notable record of school attendance, never missing a day of work during her entire 35-year teaching career. Mrs. McKee was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, and a nephew, Bill Johnson.

Her siblings, who also preceded her in death, were William Johnson, Victor Johnson, Dorothy Johnson Guenther, and Charles Johnson. She is survived by four nieces and seven nephews and their families, Sally Fox (Keith) of Baton Rouge, DeeDee Johnson of Dallas, Jenny Tolan (Yam) of Austin, Texas, and Mary Lund (Lars) of Oslo, Norway; Curt Guenther (Kay) of Nashville, Fred Neil Guenther (Julie) of Ridgeland, Miss. , Clint Guenther (Lorie) of Greenwood, Vic Johnson (Sondra) of Covington, La.

, Charlie Johnson of Bakersfield, Cal. , Dave Johnson of Austin, and Jeff Johnson (Connie) of Redmond, Ore. Graveside services will be held at noon Saturday, February 9, 2019 at the Verona City Cemetery.
