Dale W. Keimer, 86, of Sandusky, died in his home on Sunday, September 2, 2018. He was born on September 17, 1931 in Norwalk to the late Carl W. Keimer and the late Jeanette C. Spotts Sullivan. He graduated from Sandusky High School.

He drove truck for many years, eventually retiring as a mechanic from ODOT. Dale was a U.S. Army veteran who served in Korea. He was an avid fisherman and loved his time “out west,” hunting and traveling with his wife.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 83, VFW Post 2529, and AMVETS Post 17. Dale is survived by his wife, Janet (Starr) Keimer; daughter, Julie (Richard) Koch, of Monroeville; daughter-in-law, Sandra Keimer, of Berlin Heights; grandchildren, Tracey (Steven) Ball, Paul (Trisha) Drossman, Karl W. and Henry A. Keimer, and Brian (Shirley) Koch; 12 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Carl Keimer, earlier this year; and brother, Gerald Keimer.

Friends may call from 12 p.m. on Friday, September 7 until funeral services begin at 1 p.m. in Toft Funeral Home & Crematory, 2001 Columbus Ave. , Sandusky. Chaplain Mel Sayler will officiate.

Burial will follow in Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron, with the American Legion Post 83 Color Guard providing military honors. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Dale’s name to Stein Hospice,1 200 Sycamore Line, Sandusky, OH 44870.
