Memorial services for Dale Turner will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 31, 2019 at the United Methodist Church, Albert Lea with Rev. John Mitchem officiating. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 PM on Thursday with a Masonic Service held at 7 PM at Bonnerup Funeral Service, Albert Lea.

There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service on Friday. Dale William Turner, current Albert Lea resident was born in Spring Valley, MN the son of Henry W. and Ethel W. (Flathers) Turner on August 1, 1924. He was baptized and confirmed at EUB Sumner Center Church.

He graduated from Stewartville High School and then attended Auctioneering School. He married Adean A. King of Stewartville on June 13, 1953 at the EUB Sumner Center Church. Dale was very active in the community, including his longtime membership in Kiwanis, the Masonic Lodge #63 Pleasant Grove, Albert Lea Shrine Club, lifetime member of Order of the Eastern Star, Past President of the Albert Lea Chamber of Commerce, member of the Board of Directors of Minnesota Hotel Association and the United Methodist Church.

As a young man Dale began working on the farm with his dad. He later worked more than 30 years for the Kahler Corporation where he was Assistant Manager in Rochester for 9 years, Manager in Owatonna for 9 years and finished his career with 12 years in Albert Lea. In his early years, Dale was an Auctioneer for several years and loved to carve duck models out of wood.

He was also an avid cribbage player. Dale and Adean enjoyed camping all over the United States and Canada. He enjoyed being a member of the “Cross Roads Camper Group”.

He enjoyed a good game of cribbage, fishing at Lake Kabetogama, feeding the birds, and cherished annual visits to family in Michigan and Florida every October. Every Saturday morning, Dale looked forward to going to morning coffee with his friends at Marketplace. Dale passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019 at St. John’s Lutheran Home in Albert Lea, Minnesota.

He was 94 years old. Surviving members of Dales family include his wife of 65 years, Adean; daughter in-law, Helene Turner of Port St. Lucie, Florida; son in-law, Michael C. Weismiller of Monroe, MI; granddaughters, Kaylee Turner and Emily, Alyssa, and Olivia Cotterman; sister, Ivah (Arthur) Leemis of Chicago, IL; sisters in-law, Mary Engel, Rose Taliaferro, and Virginia King; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Ethel Turner; mother and father in-law, Harland and Marion King; son, Bruce Tuner; daughter, Nora Weismiller; brother, Lyle Turner; 2 sisters in-law and 2 brothers in-law.

In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred to Mayo Clinic Heart Research, United Methodist Church, or donor’s choice. Blessed be his memory!
