Damona Mrytle DePriest, 64 years of age, departed this life on Wednesday, January 2, 2019, in her home in Longview, TX. Damona was born on March 16, 1954 in Kansas City, MO to Ruth Mae Richardson and David Eddie Locke. Damona moved to Detroit, MI at the age of 4 years old.

She went to live with her Aunt Shippie after the passing of her mother, Ruth Mae. She came back to Kansas City at the age of 8, to live with grand-parents, Grand Pappie Erickson and his wife, Susan. Damona was preceded in death by both parents, Ruth Mae Taylor & David Locke, brother, Gary A. Taylor and sister-in-law, Pinkie Taylor.

Damona attended Central High School. Damona started working at Southwestern Bell at the young age of 17 and retired from AT&T at the age of 49. After retirement, she returned to school to receive her Bachelor and Master Degrees.

She move to Longview, TX in 2004. Damona was employed with The Harris Behavioral & Educational Consulting Services as a Social Therapist. In this capacity, she loved to counsel and help clients with all of life’s up’s and down’s.

During her employment, Damona enjoyed making sure everyone in their time of need was taken care of. Damona leaves to mourn her passing: two nieces, Yvette M. Jones of Grandview, MO and Colette L. Taylor of Independence, MO; two nephews, Arnell M. Taylor and Khalil N. Taylor, both of Kansas City, MO; six great nephews, Kevin Jones, Kristopher Jones, Kory Jones, Domonic Hatley, Kevin Williams, Montrell Taylor; four great nieces, Malachi Jones, Mariah Jones, Pinky Miller and Arnesha Taylor, and a host of great grand nephews, nieces, cousins, friends and 4 cats (her babies), Sheba Lynn, Diva Lynette, Babeeboy and Grayson Larue DePriest. Funeral Services 1:00 P.M. Forest Calvary Cemetery, 6901 Troost Avenue, KCMO.

Interment Forest Calvary Cemetery.
