Obituary for Daniel Volper Daniel Volper, 98, died Friday, April 13, 2018, at Lake West Hospital after a brief illness. He had recently moved from Beachwood, Ohio, to Breckenridge Village Independent Living in Willoughby. He was a retired insurance agent.

He volunteered in geriatrics at the Cleveland Clinic until he turned 97 and stopped driving. In 2012, the Clinic honored him for 20 years of service. A 2014 article, “End-of Life Planning Frees Man to Thrive in His 90s,” was featured on the cover of Cleveland Clinic’s Geriatric Times.

Mr. Volper was much admired. He was a New York Times crossword puzzle enthusiast who loved classical music. He helped out in his daughter’s classroom at Rice Elementary in Mentor from 2000 until she retired in 2011.

He was computer savvy and enjoyed modern technology. At a family dinner just days before he passed, he explained how he used Google Drive to store all of his photos, and Bluetooth to connect his hearing aids to his iPhone. Survivors include his wife Geraldine Powers Volper (nee Adelman); children, Rosemary Tropman, Elise (Chris) John; grandchildren, Elizabeth (Jack) Tropman, Rachel (Richard) Jeschelnig, Benjamin John, Megan John; and great-grandchildren Ethan and Claire.

His first wife Shirley Volper (nee Spitz) preceded him in death. Mr. Volper served as a sergeant in the Army Air Forces during WWII. Private services were held.
