Danny Wallace Kemp, 72, of Dickson, TN, passed away on Wednesday, 5/1/19, in Nashville, TN from cancer. Danny was born on October 29, 1946, in Ypsilanti, Mich. to Geraldine (Pratt) Kemp and Wallace Donald Kemp.

He is the oldest of four boys. Growing up in Berkley, Michigan, he enjoyed playing baseball and continued his involvement in that sport by coaching little league. After graduating from Berkley High School, he studied to become a master barber and worked at Dante’s Barber Shop in Oak Park, Michigan, for several years.

With long hair in fashion he then went to work in Plant Protection for Chrysler Corporation and moved into studying to be a wood die model builder. He received his Associates Degree from Oakland University and worked in Computer Aided Design as a Data Base Manager at the General Motors Tech Center. Dan enjoyed restoring old cars and the Woodward Dream Cruses.

He moved to Tennessee in 1997. His failing health kept him from many activities but he enjoyed raising Hawaiian Ginger plants for the beautiful flowers. He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Brenda Turner, whom he met while cruising Woodward Avenue in Detroit in 1966.

He has three surviving brothers, Timothy (Angie) Kemp, Patrick (Lisa) Kemp, Mark (Laura) Kemp, with three nieces, Kristina, Melissa, Shaun, and three nephews Andrew, Ryan and Steve. Visitation will be held 5:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, May 6th at Stackus Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, May 7th at the funeral home with a visitation being held from 10:00 AM until the time of service.

Burial will follow at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Pastor Paul Wise will be officiating. Family and friends wishing to share a thought or memory are encouraged to do so online at www.
