Darla’s Obituary Darla J. Bower made her glorious entrance into heaven on Friday, January 18, 2019. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 24th, 2019 at Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart, Texas with Steve Patterson, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Truxton Zion Cemetery, Truxton, MO, local arrangements entrusted to Horizon Funeral Home.

Darla Jeanne Luelf was born March 1, 1942 in St. Louis, MO to Melvin V and Meta M (Mordt) Luelf. She grew up in Hawk Point, MO and graduated from Troy High School, Troy, MO in 1959. She obtained cosmetology license in July 1960 in St. Louis, MO.

Darla married Lawrence F. Bower of Truxton, MO on July 13, 1962 in Colorado Springs, CO. She was a devoted homemaker. Throughout her life she worked various jobs outside the home, including a shoemaker at Florsheim Shoe Company in Mexico, MO, a lunch cook at North Calloway High School in Kingdom City, MO, a clerk at various grocery stores in Syracuse, KS and Dalhart, TX, but found most rewarding work in home health care in Dalhart, TX.

Throughout Darla’s life she enjoyed playing the church organ and piano at United Methodist Churches in Truxton, MO, Auxvasse, MO, Syracuse, KS and Dalhart, TX. She was active in her adult life volunteering in various capacities for the church and 4-H leadership for her sons. Darla was a member of Central United Methodist Church in Dalhart, TX.

Survivors include- sons- Michael L Bower and his wife, Nikki, of Ulysess, KS, Brian L. Bower and his wife, Sonya, of Shawnee, KS, Jay Bower of Webb City, MO. Granddaughters- Michele Lambing of Ft. Collins, CO, Emalie and Alison Bower of Nevada, MO.

Grandsons- Joshua Bower of Ulysses, KS, Kaden and Cullan Bower of Shawnee, KS, and 3 Great Grandchildren. One brother- Richard G. Luelf and his wife, Carolyn, of Lake of the Ozarks, MO. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, brother, husband.

Contributions may be made to the Central United Methodist Church, 601 Rock Island Ave.
