Obituary for Darrell Alan Dankenbring Darrell A. Dankenbring, age 69, of Edwardsville, Illinois, passed away on Sunday, December 16, 2018, at St. Louis University Medical Center in St. Louis. He was born August 8, 1949, in Highland, Illinois, the son of the late Edwin H. & Betty L. (Simpson) Dankenbring. Darrell farmed the family farm in Edwardsville his entire life and he also worked at the Edwardsville Intelligencer as a Pressman for over 30 years, retiring in 2014.

He is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jean M. Dankenbring whom he married on September 9, 1989, at the Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, Illinois. Darrell is also survived by one son Douglas A. Dankenbring of Godfrey, Illinois; two daughters, Betsy E. Groat & husband Tim of Imperial, Missouri, Melissa K. Greenwood & husband Billy of Edwardsville; one step-son, Chad R. Rapien & wife Denise of Pierron, Illinois; 13 grandchildren, Annaliese & Dannielle Dankenbring, Lucas, Austin, Gabrielle, Kolby Groat, Keegan Dankenbring, Grant, Max, & Jack Greenwood, Ryan, Megan, & Brent Rapien; and a sister. Sheri S. Henke & husband Russell of Edwardsville.

Darrell was a member of Friedens United Church of Christ in Troy, and he served with the U.S. Army in Vietnam. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, December 19, 2018, at Weber & Rodney Funeral Home in Edwardsville. The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at the funeral home with the Rev.

Douglas J. Seagle officiating. Burial will be at the Friedens Cemetery in Troy, Illinois. The family request memorials to the American Cancer Society.
