OBITUARY David Allen Brown July 30, 1960 – September 11, 2018 Dateline: Portland David Allen Brown, 58 died September 11, 2018. He was born in Portland, Me. July 30, 1960 a son of Robert and Elisabeth (Jackson) Brown.

He was born on his father’s birthday and was named after his 2 grandfathers. He attended Portland schools and graduated from Deering High School in 1978. David had worked at John Martin’s Art Gallery Resturant and had been the kitchen manager at the Muddy Rudder in Yarmouth for 10 years.

He was recently employed as the executive chef for Aramark at UNUM for the last 22 years. He was known as “Brownie” to everyone in the food industry. David had been a member of Boy Scout Troop #4 and with his dad, climbed Mt.

Katahdin. He enjoyed snow skiing, fishing, boating, waterskiing , biking, motorcycling and snowmobiling. David lived in Portland most of his life, but enjoyed his time at his summer camp on Little Sebago Lake, his winter camp at Sugarloaf and at his wife Hannah’s family home in Somesville, Me.

on Mount Desert Island. He loved to cook for everyone and expressed himself through his cooking. He was always in the kitchen at all family events.

He was one of the Aramark chefs for the Traveler’s Insurance Professional Golf tournament in Hartford for several years. He would prepare food for thousands of professional golfers and their fans. On July 27, 2018, David was diagnosed with mantle cell lymphoma.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, David and Mildred Brown and Allen and Corinne Jackson. Survivors include his parents, Robert and Elisabeth (Jackson) Brown of Portland, his wife, Hannah Babcock, son Joshua Somes Brown, step-son Rob Roy, step-daughter Sylvi Roy, sister Debbie Cole and her husband David of Portland, brother Douglas Brown of Westbrook , 3 nieces Michelle Cole, Kenagh Babcock and Ashley Brown, 4 nephews Matthew Cole, Keating Babcock, Finnegan Babcock and Andrew Brown. Visiting hours for David will be held Friday 2-4 & 6-8 at the Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland where memorial service will be held Saturday at 11 am In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Dana Farber Cancer Research Institute for Mantle Cell Lymphoma, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, MA.
