She was born the daughter of Sebastian Michael and Ethel Farr Fagone on 11-02-27. She was raised on Munjoy Hill and was a graduate of Portland High class of 1945.
Mickey, or better known as Nana Mickey, was employed by Jack Junior as a secretary and later worked at the Portland Police Department. One of her favorite jobs was the Munjoy Health Station where she met a wide array of people and their children. Nana Mickey was a true children’s advocate in every sense of the word.
She was known as a loving woman with extraordinary kindness, a witty sense of humor and boundless energy. Mickey was a second mother to many of her children’s friends and will be fondly remembered for her kind, nurturing and generous way. She had an open-door policy and a pot of sauce on the stove always available for any guests.
Nana Mickey never said no to anyone in need. Nana Mickey had some sweet dance moves, and the jitterbug was one of her favorites. She took dance lessons with her sister Patty and would always comment about how cute they were together!
She had a keen eye for fashion and everything had to match including her silver dollar-sized clip on earrings. Mickey loved the Mills Brothers, Dean Martin, and songs of that era. She would fall asleep frequently on rides, but once Cab Driver started she would awake clapping to the beat and shaking her head!
Nana Mickey was predeceased by her parents, husband, sons Richard and William Babbitt, grandson John Michael Babbitt, brother Frankie Fagone, sister Patty Turgeon and a niece, Anita Fagone Johnson who she raised as her own.
