OBITUARY David ANDERSON July 28, 1942 – October 8, 2018 Juno Beach, FL – David Anderson, 76, of Scarborough passed away October 8, 2018 on his own terms from gastric cancer with his beloved wife Nee-Nee by his side. He was previously an 8 year survivor of pancreatic cancer. David continued his humor right to the end.

He was born on July 28, 1942 to James A and Primrose (Mason) Anderson in Portland, ME. David attended schools in Falmouth, ME and Barrington, RI and ultimately graduated high school from Maine Central Institute in 1960. He attended Nichols College with a focus on Management and Marketing.

After college he served in the National Guard from 1964 – 1970. He held several management positions in the years thereafter. Ultimately, in 1985, he realized a longtime dream of being self-employed and built Pat’s Pizza in Scarborough, ME.

It became his life’s vocation to build this family restaurant into a community landmark. He took great pride not only in the service he provided to the community, but even more so in the relationships forged with employees and customers alike. David loved a good game of golf which he enjoyed playing with his wife, Nee-Nee, and many friends.

He was a member of the Portland Country Club in Maine and Turtle Creek Club in Florida. When not on the course, he could frequently be found on his boat in Casco Bay where many summer days and evenings were spent creating memories with family and friends. One of the great joys of his life was his family.

He held deep affection for his older sister Judy and cherished the times he spent with Judy and her family. David certainly took great pride in the lives and accomplishments of his two sons. He was a constant support in all aspects of their lives and undoubtedly their biggest fan in their athletic endeavors.

It would be remiss not to mention his love of the Patriots, Red Sox, Celtics, and Bruins. In fact, just give him any competitive sporting event on television or in person, and it would surely keep him engaged and content. Be it sports, politics, or life in general, he loved a good conversation with willing friends and acquaintances from Maine to Florida (too many of you to mention, but surely you know who you are).

It did not matter the topic. He would likely have a strong opinion and have it be readily known. But at the end of the day and no matter the debate, he was and always will remain your friend.

David was predeceased by his only sibling and sister, Judith “Judy” Anderson and his parents. He is survived by his wife and best friend Lileen (Nee-Nee) Anderson, his children Dr. Elliott James Anderson and wife Dr. Kristin Anderson, David Tyler Anderson; his grandchildren Evan James Anderson, Gabriel Tyler Anderson and Alexander Matthew Anderson and their grandmother, Katherine S. Anderson; his stepdaughter Toni J.C. MacQuinn and husband Adam; his brother in law John E. Anderson, Judith’s husband and their four children, extended family, in addition to many close friends in Maine and Florida. The family wants to especially thank Dr. Lisa Rutstein, Dr. Matthew Dugan, and their staffs in Maine as well as Dr. Raymond Tsao and staff at the Cancer Center of South Florida and all the wonderful employees who helped at the Gibson Center of Maine Medical Center and the Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center in Florida.

Family and friends are invited to a time of visitation on Sunday October 21st from 4:00 to 7:00pm at Jones, Rich & Barnes Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St. Portland ME. A service will be celebrated on October 22nd at 11:00am at The Episcopal Church of Saint Mary, 43 Foreside Rd, Falmouth ME. Interment will follow at Pine Grove Cemetery in Falmouth.
