OBITUARY Phyllis M. Cooke October 13, 1932 – November 11, 2018 Play Tribute Movie Portland – Phyllis (Glynn) Cooke, 86, a devoted wife, sister, mother, and grandmother passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on November 11th. Born October 13, 1932 in South Portland the daughter of James and Lillian (Cole) Glynn, Phyllis was educated at Cathedral Grammar School and graduated from Cathedral High School in 1950. She was proud of her Catholic upbringing and never understood why children no longer learn cursive penmanship.

The busy mother to four children, she also worked for over 33 years in the sales office of Deering Ice Cream. A quiet woman who loved to laugh and cherished family above all else, Phyllis spent her free time sewing, reading, and cooking. During the holidays, everyone could expect a tin of her famous chocolate chip cookies or peanut butter balls.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 42 years, Richard F., her sister Helen Smith, and nephew Jason Gagnon. She is survived by sisters Joan Noble, Frances Corkrey and husband Bruce, Roberta Gagnon, her four children, Kathryn Germani and her husband Lou, Richard, his partner Maria Luisa Deluca and their children Tyler, Spencer, Sara, and Luka, Elizabeth Golden and her husband Brian, son Hayden and his partner Colin, Anne-Marie Cooke and her husband Greg Johnson and their four-legged children Cash and Blue, as well as many nieces, nephews and their families. The family would like to extend its gratitude to the staff and volunteers of Hospice Care of Southern Maine for their compassionate care during Phyllis’ final days.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on November 17, 2018 at 10 a.m. at St. Pius X Church 492 Ocean Ave. Portland, ME. Immediately following services, inurnment will be at Brooklawn Memorial Park 2002 Congress St. Portland, ME.
