David “Boo”‘s Obituary David Lee (Boo) Bassham, age 72, resident of Columbia, passed away on Monday, May 13, 2019 at Maury Regional Medical Center with his family by his side. A funeral service for Mr. Bassham will be held at 4PM on Thursday, May 16th in the chapel of Heritage Funeral Home with Scott Holt officiating. Burial will follow in The Garden of Freedom at Maury Memorial Gardens with military honors provided by The Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday May 15th from 5- 8PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Born May 2, 1947 in Mt.

Pleasant, he was the son of the late Henry Edward Bassham and the late Nannie Frizzel Bassham. Before retiring, he worked in maintenance for Premier Cleaning Service. Mr. Bassham served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam War.

An Agent Orange survivor and a disabled veteran, David was a member of The Herbert Griffen American Legion Post 19 of Columbia, The Elks Lodge of Columbia, The Fruit of The Vine Organization, Member of the F.O.P and was a huge UT fan. He was also a member of the “Shop”. Boo Boo Bassham received his nickname by playing football at Haylong High School in Mt.

Pleasant. He loved his special pets, Princess who passed away February 29, 2019 and Abby who is still with us. The love of his life was his daughter Amber Leigh.

Mr. Bassham is survived by his beloved wife: Vickie Bassham; daughters: Amber Bassham of Columbia and Heather Adams of Mt. Juliet; brother: Peter Bassham of Florida and sister: Joyce “David” Hughes of Mt. Pleasant.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers: Charles Douglas Bassham, Tommy Bassham, Jimmy Bassham; and sisters: Jane Peden, Sue Plew, and Betty Cornwell. Pallbearers will be: David Couch, Stephen Hughes, Cedric Peachey, Kenneth Church, Brian Logan, Michael Bassham and Bobby Sands. Honorary pallbearers will include: the members of the Herbert Griffin American Legion Post 19, members of Fruit of the Vine, and all his buddies at The Shop.
