Obituary for David L Meier David Meier Elm Creek Resident David Meier, 50, of Elm Creek passed away on Friday, January 11, 2019 at his home near Elm Creek. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 17, 2019 at St. James Catholic Church in Kearney. Pastor Scott Foster will officiate.

Interment will take place at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Elm Creek immediately following the service. Visitation will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2019 at O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral Home in Kearney. Memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.

David Lee Meier was born on December 3, 1968 in Kearney to Robert and Joan (King) Meier. He attended Elm Creek High School and graduated with the class of 1987. Dave went on to further his education at Kearney State College and received an Agribusiness Degree.

Dave farmed on the family farm south of Elm Creek. Dave was united in marriage to Calli Moore on September 29, 1998 at First Christian Church in Elm Creek and to this union four children were born: Nolan, Reagan, Lani and Brody. Dave was a family man and loved his family dearly.

Dave’s hobbies were hunting, fishing and cruising around looking at fields, cows and deer. He enjoyed attending all his family’s events, soda cruises, dinner trips with friends and his recliner. Dave coached youth sports and was active in 4-H.

He would have given the shirt off his back for anyone in need. Dave never met a stranger. Most of all, Dave enjoyed spending time with his family and children.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Calli Meier; children, Nolan, Reagan, Lani and Brody Meier, all of Elm Creek; mother, Joan Meier of Kearney; siblings, Pat Smith of Kearney, Mike Meier and his wife, Jenny of Elm Creek, Martin Meier and his wife, Julia of Elm Creek, Paula Montgomery and her husband, Tom of Omaha, Pam Harrington and her husband, Dick of Loup City, Morgan Meier and his wife, Geri of Elm Creek, Mark Meier and his wife, Amy of Elm Creek and Andrea Quadhamer and her husband, Brad of Hildreth; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Calvin and Jean Moore of Elm Creek; brother-in-law, Shawn Moore and his wife, Lisa of Welfleet, Nebraska; and numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Dave was preceded in death by his father and brother-in-law, Terry Smith; along with several aunts and uncles.
