Yvonne H. Nilsen, 74 Hazard resident Yvonne H. Nilsen, 74, of Hazard, Nebraska, died Friday, February 22, 2019 at her home. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday, February 28, 2019 at Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard with the Reverend Dean Hanson officiating. Interment will follow at the Highland Cemetery in Ravenna, NE.

Visitation will be from 5:00-7:00 pm on Wednesday, February 27th at the Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard, NE. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard, NE. Condolences may be shared online at www.

osrfh.com. Services are entrusted to O’Brien Straatmann Redinger Funeral and Cremation Services. Yvonne was born at home in Litchfield, NE on October 13, 1944 to Garfield “Buck” and Agatha (Borden) Jones.

She attended school in Litchfield graduating in 1962. She went on to graduate from Lincoln School of Commerce. She was baptized at the Litchfield Christian Church.

She was united in marriage to Arnold W. Nilsen on September 27, 1964. They made their home on a farm southwest of Hazard. She was a homemaker, helped on the farm and raised two children.

Later she worked for 19 years at Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, NE in admissions and the medical records department. Following her retirement she served as the church secretary. She was confirmed at Faith Lutheran Church in Hazard and remained an active member involved in all activities of the church and was a devoted member of LWML.

Yvonne and Arnold made many dear friends while being involved in Lutheran Marriage Encounter. They enjoyed traveling together. Their most meaningful and memorable trip was to the Holy Land.

Yvonne’s ten grandchildren brought much joy to her heart. She was known for her love and compassion for family and friends and for her hospitality. Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 54 years, Arnold Nilsen of Hazard; daughter, Mona and Jared Axmann of Kearney; son, Tony and Kayla Nilsen of Hazard; grandchildren Laura, Rebecca, and Sam Axmann, Chase Nilsen and friend Amber Metzler, Bailey Jo, Tagget, Addison, Tucker, Kenzie and Karlee Nilsen; many nieces and nephews, four sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son, Garfield Philip; her brothers, Jack and Wayne; her sister, Dorothy; two infant sisters; nephew, Scott Jones and three infant grandchildren, Tanner, Tristan and Baby Nilsen.
